Description
The Underground is the lower floor of The Warehouse and operates at times as its own club and at other times as a second room to the main floor. The Undergroud is legendary for the cheapest beer in the city (jugs for as low as $5.25!!) and for its high quality live band shows every Friday and Saturday. The music caters towards punk rockers with the occasional metal and hard core shows to spice things up. Whether you are enjoying the live music, the cheap drinks, the arcade games or the pool tables, The Underground never leaves you dissatisfied. And neither does NIGHT AT THE CHELSEA!!!

RFRD now on Ustream.tv

Just for the fun of it we thought we’d hook up with Ustream.tv and try our hand at video. The trial run was Saturday November 21, 2009. It had it’s moments – trying to manage tunes, cameras and chat all at once is a bit of juggling act but we made it.

Here’s some links until I get got the video links to work:

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/radiofreereddeer

Got the video link via Vodpod . . .

more about ““, posted with vodpod

Now why go to all this trouble just to play some tunes? The exposure for the artists! This is one more channel to get the music out there. Maybe in future shows we can get some guests to call in or drop by and chat.

The next time you’re having a party, think about using local artists in your playlist.

Canadian Radio Star – national songwriting competition

From Broadcaster Magazine . . . .

CMW Announces Canadian Radio Star Competition

Canadian Radio Star – the 17th annual national songwriting competition – is now underway. Aspiring songwriters from across Canada can enter for their chance to win $10,000 in cash, thousands in valuable prizes and the opportunity to have their material heard by Canada’s leading radio programmers, recording industry executives, hit songwriters and the potential for a new legion of fans. Sponsored by Astral Media and Canadian Music Week, the contest is one of many events taking place during Canadian Music Week, March 10 – 14, 2010.

Here’s a link to the entire article.

Here’s a link to the Canadian Radio Star site.

We might not be in love with terrestrial/traditional radio but hey, 10 grand is nothing to sneeze at!

BTW: don’t forget to have your tunes copy-righted (say through Creative Commons or find out more about Canadian copyright here or here) before you enter them into the contest. That way your song remains your song.
